Three Steps to Relief

1. Dry Eye Assessment – We’ve Got Your Number

You probably know the number that represents your cholesterol, your blood pressure or your heart rate.

But did you know you also have a number that indicates the dryness of your eye? This simple

assessment will reveal your number which serves as a baseline of your severity of dryness, and as a progress indicator throughout your treatment.

2. Personalized Diagnosis – The Right Program for You

The exact causes of your dry eyes are as individual as you are. This comprehensive evaluation will assess the specific cause of your condition and provide key information the doctor will use to create the optimal treatment plan for you.

3. Treatment Options – Which one is right for you?

We have numerous options for the treatment of dry eyes. You and your doctor will discuss which ones suit your particular needs. Your program may include one

or more of the following treatment modalities:

Non Surgical Treatments:

• Topical treatments

• Prescription eye drops

• Prescribed dietary supplements

• Compresses

• Lid hygiene/therapy

• Application of small collagen or silicone plugs that prevent the draining of tears

Surgical Treatments:

• Light Therapy – Many people already know the amazing benefits of the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light Treatment Laser) to create beautiful skin. But this technological breakthrough is also used as a dry eye

treatment. The IPL unplugs the oil glands that line the upper and lower lid margins. The light serves as a healing warm compress to liquefy any secretions that may be blocking the oil-secreting gland of the eye

(called the Meibomian glands). Once the glands are unplugged, the oily layer of the tear film is restored, thus tears remain in the eye and bring soothing relief. The IPL can also reduce inflammation caused by dry eyes.

• Oil Gland Therapy – This process often yields astonishing results in restoring the oil secretions of the Meibomian glands. A small instrument gently probes the oil glands lining the upper and lo wer lid

margins. The oily layer of the tear film is restored and tears remain in the eye as opposed to evaporating off, thus providing soothing relief.

• Tear Duct Therapy – The canals of the eye are sealed with cautery, a form of healing heat to prevent tears from draining. This is considered to be the best method for creating permanent closure of the canals.

The treatment allows the eye fluids to stay in the eye and provide soothing lubrication and relief.

Your Next Step

You don’t have to suffer from dry eyes anymore. Call LASIK Today to schedule your consultation.
